Ebeltoft — The Apple Town in Djursland
Ebeltoft is located at the peninsula of Djursland in one of the Kattegat bays it is a small and cute city. This small city Is mainly concentrated on fishing, the busy and beautiful harbor and tourism. Many of these small houses you see while walking are built in a traditional and historical way. The town hall is the worlds` smallest town hall and it sticks out of that idyllic scenery. The Ebeltoft people are very well known with a fine tradition, for example the re-creation of the Ebeltoft night watchman put in traditional clothes and traditional weapons. Because of the city´s growth many shops in the heart of this lovely and well preserved city were made and the pedestrian zone was made more interesting. But there are two more sights with national meanings in this area. One of them is the museum of glasses, which is famous for international and local pieces of manufacturing that gave Ebeltoft the title Capital of Glasses. The other attraction of this area is the historical wooden warship called Yiland, which fought in the war between Germany and Denmark in 1874 near Helgoland. Today it is the last warship this size in the world and can be visited. Sometimes it shows its astonishing fire power it has had in these days. Ebeltoft got its name from a small hill were apple trees grew right in the centre of this city in the past. Once a year in the middle of October there is a folk festival called the “Ebelfestival”. During these days you can ask the people about several products made of apples, and of course you can buy them or you just look how these master pieces of manufacturing are made live in front of you. Those who do holiday in Ebelfoft can experience the comfortable and carefree lifestyle of the Dansk people. A Novasol holiday home is a good destination for your holiday in Denmark.
